8-Day Kenya and Tanzania Safari

Today is dedicated to exploring the Masai Mara in-depth. After an early breakfast, you’ll embark on a morning game drive, when the wildlife is most active. The Masai Mara is world-renowned for its rich biodiversity, and your guide will take you to prime areas for spotting lions on the hunt, elephants grazing in large herds, and perhaps even a leopard perched in a tree. The highlight of this morning’s safari may include spotting the majestic cheetahs or encountering the rare wild dogs. In the afternoon, return to your lodge for lunch before heading out for another exciting game drive. You’ll also have the option to visit a Masai village, where you can learn about the traditional Masai culture and gain insight into the vibrant community that calls this area home. Enjoy a final sundowner in the Mara before heading back to your lodge for dinner and a well-deserved rest.

After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge, you’ll depart Masai Mara and make the journey back to Nairobi. The drive is approximately 5-6 hours, providing a final opportunity to enjoy the landscape and spot wildlife along the way. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or at Nairobi National Park for an optional afternoon visit to this unique wildlife reserve, located just outside the city center. Nairobi offers an array of cultural attractions and is the perfect place to relax before the next leg of your journey.

This morning, after breakfast, you will take a short flight from Nairobi to Arusha, Tanzania’s safari hub, located at the base of Mount Meru. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your driver-guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in. If time allows, enjoy a visit to Arusha National Park, where you can spot wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, and monkeys, while enjoying stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. Alternatively, explore Arusha town, where you can shop for local crafts and souvenirs or simply relax and enjoy the Tanzanian atmosphere. Your overnight stay will be in a comfortable hotel or lodge in Arusha.

After an early breakfast, you will begin your journey to Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations. The drive from Arusha to Serengeti takes around 5-6 hours, but the experience is well worth it. As you enter the park, you’ll immediately begin seeing the vast plains and scattered acacia trees, which make up the Serengeti’s unique landscape. Your first game drive in Serengeti offers the chance to witness the incredible wildlife of the park. Keep an eye out for the Big Five, and be on the lookout for cheetahs chasing their prey or giraffes gracefully walking across the savannah. The Serengeti is home to some of the most diverse and abundant wildlife in the world, and this afternoon game drive will leave you wanting more. After a rewarding day of safari exploration, you will settle in for the evening at your luxury lodge or tented camp in Serengeti, where you can enjoy a delicious dinner and the sounds of the African wild around you.

Following an early morning breakfast, you will depart Serengeti and head towards the Ngorongoro Crater, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most famous wildlife destinations. The drive is approximately 3-4 hours, and along the way, you will witness the transition from the open plains of the Serengeti to the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon arrival, you’ll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, which is often referred to as the "Garden of Eden." This caldera, formed millions of years ago, is home to a staggering array of wildlife, including elephants, lions, cheetahs, and the endangered black rhino. Spend the day exploring the crater floor, where animals roam freely in a truly stunning environment. After a full day of game drives, you will return to your lodge on the crater rim for a peaceful night’s rest.

This morning, after breakfast, you will leave the Ngorongoro Crater and head back to Arusha. The drive back takes around 3-4 hours, and along the way, you may have the chance to stop for a cultural experience or visit local communities. Once you arrive in Arusha, you will have time to relax or explore the town, which offers a lively mix of local markets, shops, and cultural experiences. If time allows, you can visit the Cultural Heritage Centre or relax in a local café while reflecting on the incredible experiences of the past week. You’ll overnight in Arusha.

On your final day, enjoy breakfast in Arusha before taking a morning flight back to Nairobi. The flight is short (about 1 hour), giving you one last chance to take in the views of the African landscape. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight home.
